I'm not alone in that assessment. Over at Entertainment Weekly, Ken Tucker supplies a review of last night's SNL, making the same observation. Here's an excerpt of his nice blow-by-blow account of the program:
Butler had to compete for screen time not only with Bud Light, but also with Kristen Wiig, who seemed to be everywhere. Sketches would begin with one premise — say, Butler as an ad-agency rep coming up with ideas about how to make cottage cheese sexy — only to have Wiig enter and take over the sketch doing one of her 25 interchangeable nervously-awkward characters. I’m not saying Wiig isn’t talented; it’s just that she’s being stretched too thin. Couldn’t Abby Elliott, Jenny Slate, or Nasim Pedrad have been used more prominently to give her (and them) a break?
The answer to Ken's question is a big ol' YES!

Oh, and one other thing about last night... SHAKIRA IS INSANELY HOT.
Well hello whoever reads this. I spent at least four minutes working the DVR trying to freeze frame on the opening credits to pause at the right split second of her name appearing so I could go on google images (no safesearch of course) and track down some hopefully nice photos of this sexy, sexy commedienne. That's too much time and wrong. My second complaint is that there aren't any provocative images of Nasim on google images even (and most importantly!) with safesearch off. She's sexy to me, and I think this is what's relevant to this blog of yours, in part because she is talented and funny. The other two youngins are as well but this Nasim, she's got that je ne sais quoi going on and I dig it!
ReplyDeleteI would still dig her if she were less entertaining on account of her fine looks but I needed that humor to tip me over the edge and go to my computer to try to get a better look at her. But again, nothing to write home about online so I'm just going to do a 180 and stare at the freeze frame of her on the opening credits, maybe jump back and slow mo it a couple times.
Okay, that's creepy enough. Good night and if any of you actually talk to this girl tell her she's sexy, at least to some random guy, and wants her to flaunt it -- in more skits of course -- but with more alluring googoo eyes and titillating smiles and her mysteriously sexy ethnicity.
